Here is a fantastic Anime & Manga Hair Style drawing tutorial for all of those Japanese illustration fanatics out there. Anime hair is pretty easy to draw compared to real structured hair illustrations so only a little bit of training is needed with impressive results.
Animanga is very well known for the characters with very diverse variety of hairstyles especially exotic or wild ones as well as their wide variety of hair colors. It can be said that the reason for the characters to look western is to give each character a very distinct appearance so to distinguish the characters in any Animanga (both Anime or Manga).
Try to imagine "Ryokyo" from "Tenchi Muyo!" with a green hair and long thick ponytails, insted of the blue punk hair, she normaly haves.... she might look cute, but it's just not "Ryokyo" anymore! The hair is one of the "trademarks" of a manga karater, and are offen used to give a karather a specific look/style.
I've seen a lot of people make mistakes about this, especially in the manga category, so I've decided to submit a tutorial about drawing hair on heads. It may seem simple, but it's easy to make mistakes!
