Do you want to learn how to draw a cute cartoon cat? Cats and kittens aren’t always easy to draw, but after seeing how they are drawn, I bet you will shock all of your friends with your drawing abilities. I  have put together a step-by-step tutorial that will help you figure out how to draw a cartoon cat or kitten by using simple shapes to build up this cat’s form. This is an intermediate cartooning tutorial that kids, teens, and adults will enjoy. Even some younger children might be able to draw a cat if you stand by to help with the instructions. Enjoy! How to Draw Cartoon Cats Step by Step Drawing Tutorial for Kids

Step 1

To start off drawing this cat’s head, please draw a circle-like shape as shown above. Don’t worry about mistakes because you can erase these later. Later, you will be using a pen or marker to outline the ‘right’ lines.

Step 2

Now lets lightly sketch out the bottom of the cat’s face by making 2 rounded triangle shapes (see them on their sides).

Step 3

Now that you have lightly sketched out the bottom of the cat’s face, you can draw over these basic shapes with triangle zigzags (as shown above). Also, make the cat’s nose, smiley mouth and chin.

Step 4

Now make 2 oval shapes for the cat’s eyes as well as the tuft of hair on the top of the cat’s head.

Step 5

Now make the cat’s eyebrows (cartoon animals often have features that real cartoon animals don’t really have). Also draw a circle inside each oval eye as well as a second smaller circle for the iris. After you draw the iris, take a pizza slice (triangle) out of the circle for the eye’s highlight.

Step 6

Now draw each of the cat’s ears.
