How to Draw Cartoon Pilgrims for Thanksgiving Step by Step Drawing Tutorial for Kids, Teens, and Adults

The above picture of a cartoon pilgrim girl is what we will be drawing step by step today. Find this drawing tutorial below. Get out a piece of paper, a pencil, and a black marker. Good luck.

Take out your piece of paper and your pencil..we are about to sketch. Look at the picture above. I know that this doesn’t look anything like the finished pilgrim picture picture that you are attempting to draw…but I will explain why the picture above looks so strange. Well, what I was trying to show you (in the picture above) was that the girl is made up of a bunch of simple shapes. Do you see the body of the pilgrim girl looks like a cone-like shape and that her face looks like a circle?Well, I want you to be able to visualize this so you can start to draw images more easily. So take out your pencil and lightly draw the pilgrim girl’s simpler shapes the way that I did above. Don’t worry about mistakes because you can erase these later. Later, you will be using a pen or marker to outline the ‘right’ lines.

Now pretend that the girl’s face is round like a basketball and draw a line around the center of the circle, both vertically and horizontally. Since the girl is looking towards the right, the vertical line is 1/3 of the way from the right side of the circle.

Now draw the eyes on top of the center line. She has oval-like eyes.

Now draw 4 small lines on each eye for eye lashes as well as a small circle in each eye. Also draw a curved line above each eye for the pilgrim girl’s eyebrows.

Now draw another smaller circle inside the eyes for the girl’s pupils..color them in except for a spot (the highlight of the eye). Draw the nose as a small curve…and draw the top line of the girl’s mouth.

Now draw the bottom of the girl’s mouth…fill in the mouth except for the girl’s teeth.

Now draw a ‘C’ for the left ear. A line under the mouth for the lip line and an ‘M’ shape above the eyes for the girl’s hair.

Now draw an upside down ‘U’ on the top of the pilgrim girl’s hair for a bonnet.

Now draw 2 lines at either side of the bonnet line that we just drew. Also make a lowercase ‘r’ type shape for the top of the bonnet. Also draw the rest of the girl’s hair.

Now make a curved line to the right of the bonnet and a ‘C’ type shape for the very top of the girl’s bonnet.

Now refine the shape of the girl’s face as well as draw the girl’s neck.

Now draw an upside down ‘V’ for the girl’s collar line as well as a line for each shoulder.

Now draw an ‘L’ and a backwards ‘J’ for the pilgrim’s bottom hair line. Also draw a ‘U’ type shape at the bottom of the collar.

Now draw 2 ‘L’ type shapes for the left arm and draw an ’11′ for the right arm.

Now draw the waist line and a rectangle for the girl’s sleeve cuff. Also draw the hand (looks like a rectangle with a sideways ‘V’ at the end of it).

Now refine the shape of the pilgrim girl’s dress.

Now make a big ‘L’ shape for the girl’s apron.

Now make the basic shape of the pie.

And now make a bunch of squiggly ‘W’ type shapes for the outer pie shape as well as lines inside the pie shell.

Now you just have to erase lines that you don’t need and outline the ‘correct’ lines with a black pen or marker. Making thick, interesting lines instead of the thin pencil lines makes quite a differnce in the end result, doesn’t it? If you are having problems figuring out which lines to erase, then reference my drawing (above) for help. Now you will have an amazing cartoon pilgrim girl drawing to show off to your friends and family at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
