How to Draw Cartoon Birds Simple Step by Step Drawing Lesson for Children

Below you will find step by step instructions for drawing this cute little bird on a tree branch. Follow along and you will soon have a cute little bird picture too.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Draw a sideways letter ‘S’ shape.

Step 2: Draw a curved line at the bottom of the shape.

Step 3: Draw a circle for the eye. Draw a sideways letter ‘c’ shape inside the circle.

Step 4: Draw a sideways letter ‘v’ shape for the beak.

Step 5: Draw a curved line in the beak. Draw large, sideways letter ‘u’ shapes for the feathers on the back of the bird.

Step 6: Close the feathers up to a point….you can draw a sideways letter ‘v’ shape at the end of the feather, if this makes more sense to you. Draw letter ‘v’ shaped feet.

Step 7: Draw a squiggly line for the wing. Draw a line thru the center of the feet.

Step 8: If you want to draw a branch under the bird, you can draw a sideways letter ‘Y’ shape (bubble letter format).
