How to Draw Realistic Eyes from the Side Profile View – Step by Step Drawing Tutorial
Written-Out Step by Step Drawing Instructions
(Step 1 – 7) Construct the Eye as shown in the illustrated steps.
(Step 8) Add tint to the iris of the eye .. with the side of your pencil. Also add lighter shade under the eye lid…also in the small part on the bottom, left of the eye. Fill in the pupil black.
(Step 9) Add shadow to the upper lid. Add a bit of shadow around the iris.
(Step 10) Add shadow on edges of upper lid.
(Step 11) Start adding lines outside of the pupil…all different shades of black/gray.
(Step 12) Add a tiny bit of gray to the highlight…also add more lines outside of the pupil.
(Step 13) Add different tints of black/gray squiggly lines on outer iris.
(Step 14) Use eraser to add some lighter squiggles to outer iris as well as lines outside the pupil.
(Step 15) Do some cross-hatching on the rectangle-ish highlight, as I did…this will help it blend in with the eye a bit…so it isn’t so bright.
(Step 16) Continue with the cross-hatching over the highlight to continue to blend it in. Also add shadows on the inside of the eye lids.
(Step 17-20) Draw eye lashes in.
(Step 21) Thicken the eye lashes at the base and a bit to the eye lashes that are on the left…the further to the left, the thicker and longer the lashes get.
(Step 22) Add shadows to the left of the eye…as well as a bit more shading below the top lid (to the left of the eye).
