Today I will show you how to draw a baby version of Ariel, the mermaid from Disney’s The Little Mermaid. This is also called kawaii or chibi. I have broken this tutorial down into almost 20 steps to make it super simple for you to draw. If you can draw simple geometric shapes, letters, and numbers, this lesson will be easy squeezy for you. Written-Out Step by Step Drawing Instructions
(Step 1) Draw a letter ‘C’ shape on its side…then draw guidelines thru it to help you place eyes, nose, and mouth later. We will erase the guides later so draw them lightly.
(Step 2) Draw an oval for each eye…using the guidelines to place them.
(Step 3) Draw a letter ‘c’ for the nose and a sideways uppercase ‘D’ for the mouth.
(Step 4) Draw a sideways letter ‘S’-like shape on top of the head. Draw a backwards letter ‘C’ shape for the ear.
(Step 5) Draw a sideways ?-like shape on top of the head (for hair).
(Step 6) Draw a sideways letter ‘s’ shape again for more hair. Draw 2 lines for each arm.
(Step 7) Draw a backwards letter ‘s’ shape for some of the hair. Draw #3-like shapes for hands.
(Step 8) Draw a letter ‘c’ shape below the head for more hair.
(Step 9) Draw a curved line connect the hair together.
(Step 10) Draw 2 circles for shell bra.
(Step 11) Draw lines in the bra. Draw 2 lines below the bra for the side of the chest. Draw a dot for a belly button.
(Step 12) Draw a sideways letter ‘s’ shape below the chest.
(Step 13) Draw another ‘s’ like shape below the one from step 12. Draw a curved line on other side.
(Step 14) Draw a ?-like shape on right side of body.
(Step 15) Draw 2 curved lines for tail.
(Step 16) Draw an upside down letter ‘U’ shape for bottom of tail.
(Step 17) Draw letter ‘v’ like shape at bottom of tail.
(Step 18) This is Ariel, the mermaid, finished.
