Today I’ll show you how to draw the characters Joe Gardner and 22 as souls. I have broken down this tutorial into almost 30 steps to make it was easy as possible for you to follow along with. Happy Drawing!

Written-Out Step by Step Drawing Instructions

(STEP 01) Draw a #3 shape and a “J” shape for the faces.

(STEP 02) Draw a curved line on the left side of the first face. Draw a line on the top of the second face.

(STEP 03) Draw 2 curved lines for the top of 22’s head. Lightly draw curved guidelines within each face. These will be erased later, but are helpful in placing facial features.

(STEP 04) Draw eyes on each of the faces. Draw a sideways #8 shape on the first face and a sideways #3 shape on the second.

(STEP 05) Draw blue lines to finish off the eyes. Start drawing the eyebrows.

(STEP 06) Draw curved lines on the eyebrows.

(STEP 07) Add on to the eyebrows. Draw a line through the eyes on the 1st face.

(STEP 08) Draw the pupils of the eyes. Finish up the eyebrows.

(STEP 09) Add some finishing details to their eyes. Draw a sideways “J” for the 1st face’s mouth. Draw a line for the 2nd face’s mouth.

(STEP 10) Draw a backward “J” shape and 2 lines for the 1st face’s mouth. Draw a partial flat oval for the brim of the 2nd face’s head.

(STEP 11) Draw a curved line on the mouth and teeth. Draw a partial rectangle on the hat.

(STEP 12) Draw an oval and a partial oval for 22’s cheeks. Draw a curved line for his tongue.

(STEP 13) Draw “U” shaped bodies.

(STEP 14) Draw “C”-like shapes for 22’s arms. Draw slanted arms for Joe’s neck.

(STEP 15) Draw a line for Joe’s arm. Draw a circle on 22’s chest. Draw curved lines for his inner arms.

(STEP 16) Draw a “U” and backward “J” shape for Joe’s legs. For 22, draw “C” shaped arms and circles on his chest.

(STEP 17) Draw an oval for 22’s shadow. Draw a sideways “J” shape on each of his hands. For Joe’s feet, draw 3 lines and 1 backward “J”.

(STEP 18) Finish up Joe’s feet.

(STEP 19) Draw some simple shapes in the circles on 22’s chest.

(STEP 20) Add some shadows.

(STEP 21) Color them in.

(STEP 22) Use white to draw a line for the top of his glasses.

(STEP 23) Draw 2 “J” shapes and 2 “V” shapes on the glasses.

(STEP 24) Draw lines connecting parts of the glasses. Draw a sideways “U” shape on the right side of his glasses.

(STEP 25) Draw “J”-like shapes on his glasses.

(STEP 26) Draw a sideways #3 shape.

(STEP 27) Draw a “U” shape for the last finger.

(STEP 28) Color things in and draw some dashed lines and you’re finished.
