Today I will show you how to draw a cute cartoon owl or bird from a lowercase letter q shape. This is a great way to for you to make handwriting fun. Your kids can practice drawing the lowercase letter q shape and then turning them into cartoon birds. I have broken down this easy tutorial into almost 20 steps. Learn How to Draw a Cartoon Bird from the Letter Letter q – Simple Step by Step Art Lesson for Kids

Written-Out Step by Step Drawing Instructions

(Step 1) Write a lowercase letter ‘q’ shape.

(Step 2) Write another lowercase letter ‘q’, but this time backwards. The circles of the letter ‘q’ shapes are the eyes.

(Step 3) Draw another circle in each eye.

(Step 4) Draw an upside down letter ‘U’ shape for the pilot / aviator helmet.

(Step 5) Draw circles in the eyes (for highlights).

(Step 6) Draw a curved line above the eyes. Draw an upside down letter ‘U’ shape for the beak.

(Step 7) Draw a letter ‘v’ shape for the bottom of the beak. Draw a curved line for the bottom of the face.

(Step 8) Draw ovals for the aviator helmet’s goggles.

(Step 9) Draw a curved line in each of the goggles’ ovals. Draw an oval for the bird’s body.

(Step 10) Outline the goggle ovals with a #8 shape.

(Step 11) Draw 3 ovals for each foot’s claws.

(Step 12) Draw 2 curved lines on both sides of the goggles, for straps.

(Step 13) Draw a curved line for each wing.

(Step 14) Draw 2 outward curved lines for the branch.

(Step 15) Draw a sideways letter ‘v’ inside the branch. Draw lines on the left side of the branch.

(Step 16) Erase any lines that are no longer needed.

(Step 17) Color in the bird, add clouds, and anything else that you want in your picture. I hope that you had a good time!
