The face is what gives most people troubles so I broke it down into simpler shapes that you can identify with to help you draw it. The farther away eye looks like an upside down letter ‘u’ … under neath it look like a flattened letter ‘w’. The eye closer to you looks like a number ‘3’ and the mouth looks like a sideways letter ‘J’. Make sure to use the guidelines in the face (the cross-hair guidelines) to help place the facial features in the right spot.
Draw sideways bubble-letter ‘v’ shapes for the eye lashes. Draw 3 ovals for each eye. On the right…draw a sideways number ‘2’ shape.
Draw faint diamond shapes on her arms and legs, and two ear shapes for the tails of her coat.
From the diamond shape, sketch in rough zig-zag letter ‘W’ like shapes….while using the diamond as a guide-border. Draw the last details of her dress and face…including a letter ‘u’ nose…and 2 ovals on her forehead. Also draw letter ‘M’ shapes at the edge of her face.
This is what Blaze the Cat looks like finished. She is colorized digitally so you won’t be able to get the exact effect…but you can get pretty fantastic results with watercolors. If you know how to use an airbrush … this will give even better results.

This is the best thing ever! It took me two hours to get it right and now it's going on my wall. I love how you carefully described each step and referred each line to something we already know how to draw. Where did you learn how to do this?
awww...thanks Casey. I just do it this way because when I was a kid, I used to get so frustrated with drawing lessons in books. The books would have maybe 2 or 3 steps to draw an entire character - and to me, this wasn't helpful at all. You might as well just skip the tutorials if there aren't enough steps...at least in my mind. Thanks for the compliment!!!
