How to Draw Cartoon Facial Expressions : Drowsy, Tired, Feeling Sick

This is the third tutorial in a large series of tutorials on drawing facial expressions or silly faces. This particular lesson is on how to draw a cartoon face of a boy who is feeling very drowsy or ill. He definitely just want to get into his bed and sleep for the rest of the day or night. We have broken this tutorial down to many steps, so hopefully, it is easy enough for you to learn how to draw. Happy Drawing!

Written-Out Step by Step Drawing Instructions

(Step 1) Draw a “U” shaped face.

(Step 2) Draw curved lines at the top of the face.

(Step 3) Draw “C” shaped ears and curved lines for the neck.

(Step 4) Draw “M” shaped bangs. Draw a line as well.

(Step 5) Draw curved lines for the sides of the hair. Draw an upside-down “V” to finish off the bangs.

(Step 6) Draw zig-zags at the top of the hair (or just draw an “M” and a “W”.

(Step 7) Add some details.

(Step 8) Draw 2 “C” shapes for the nose.

(Step 9) Draw an oval for each eye.

(Step 10) Draw a curved line on the lower part of each eye (these are his heavy eyelids).

(Step 11) Draw a half circle in each eye (for the pupils).

(Step 12) Draw a line over each eye.

(Step 13) Draw another line on the top of the first one. These are the eyebrows.

(Step 14) Draw an oval for his mouth.

(Step 15) Draw 2 curved lines under each eye.

(Step 16) Draw a bunch of dots on his cheeks (if you want him to have freckles)
